Our Green Community

Our Green Community

Ever since a few neighbors and embassy workers began caring for trees along Massachusetts Avenue – with wagons towing tools and hoses – we have met and rallied more US and embassy neighbors who want to do something! They see a tree respond to their care and learn how DC rules protect trees. As the trees grow, more people want to help the environment and enhance the beauty of the Grand Avenue’s historic landscape.

Restore Mass Ave has grown by introducing neighbors to each other through tree-planting events, as well as on-going cooperative care of trees and greenspace. During two years of city road rebuilding, we shared knowledge of how to protect trees from construction and how to report issues.

Our Green Community has grown stronger thanks to the DDOT Urban Forestry Division, Casey Trees, and other resources.

But above all, the people here who are  committed to a greener city are making the most visible difference.
