Restore Mass Ave is a small, volunteer-run nonprofit engaged in tree planting and care to restore the historic landscape of Embassy Row, the two miles of Massachusetts Avenue NW from Wisconsin Avenue east to Dupont Circle.

In 18 years, tree canopy in our project area increased dramatically, despite setbacks from road construction, storms and droughts. We succeed because RMA reps share in the work of choosing sites and trees, and spreading knowledge of how to grow and protect them.

Helping Restore Mass Ave is empowering. You’ll help our city reach its goal of 40% shade by 2032.

Contact us with your ideas. If you are an owner or stakeholder along Mass Ave, request a visit. If you know of in-kind services that might help our program, tell us in the box below!

Treekeepers needed for ‘hands-in-the-dirt’ rescue of ~50 new curbside street trees and others, guided by RMA. This is a fun outdoor activity to actively grow trees and share what you learn!

Landscape architecture or horticulture background? You can rescue an important view along Embassy Row by meeting and advising on appropriate plantings.

Have international interest or experience? Apply to be an RMA Green Ambassador to one or more embassies, as we follow up on World Forum contacts.

Social media and messaging. RMA needs a stronger online presence so more people learn how we’re making the old / new Grand Avenue “a model for sustainable historic streets everywhere.”
